🚀 Launching a community to fight the oil & gas industry!

This is a big week for us as we get ready to open the doors on our new Circle Community for Halt the Harm Network (screenshots below), a project serving people impacted by oil & gas pollution.

We’re kicking off the community with an awards ceremony – honoring 4 leaders in different parts of the US, and featuring keynote speaker Winona LaDuke and musician Eilen Jewell.

The design is still a work in progress, and I want to thank Zlatko Najdenovski for his help talking through our options and writing some CSS for me to work with. I found the threads here in Circle really helpful to see what’s possible – though haven’t made any changes yet. 

Here are some cool technical details:

• Our HelpScout Beacon is embedded on the page (javascript) so we can offer help docs and support chat right inside the network
• There is a custom sign-up process with Tally, so that we can learn more about people who are joining. 

We beta-tested the community with a cohort-based program, and valuable mentorship from Tatiana Figueiredo and her program, Build a Community Business, which I learned about at the Circle Summit.

One other cool detail is the way participants are able to use a space in Circle to share their work in the program. Here is a snapshot that shows you the kind of projects they are working on when dealing with oil & gas industry.

Over the past year, I’ve been discovering a whole network of designers and community builders. I’ve seen many examples and had so much support and input.

I’m also grateful for our clients who’ve hired Maple to design and create communities. Halt the Harm Network is just one of these examples, but also working with BotanicWise, Heartstone, and the American Solar Grazing Association, to name a few.
